Director of ADR

Cynthia G. Politowicz (Cynthia) is the Law Practice Manager and ADR Program Manager at the Army Office of General Counsel. She joined OGC in December 2018 as an attorney-advisor. She previously worked as an attorney-advisor at Department of the Army, OTJAG Administrative Law Division, served as the Senior Legal Advisor to the Army Review Boards Agency and as a Deputy Regional Counsel for the Office of Soldiers’ Counsel, MEDCOM.

She has been awarded the Civilian Service Commendation Medal and the Commander’s Award for Civilian Service.

Ms. Politowicz retired from the Army JAGC in August 2014, after more than 20 years of active duty service, to include a tour in Afghanistan, where she served as the Chief of Administrative Law for USFOR-A, and service in Bosnia and Germany. During her active service, she served as a leadership and military law/law of war instructor at the Command and General Staff College; Chief, General Law Branch, Chief Military Personnel Law Branch and Deputy, Administrative Law Division, OTJAG; Special Advisor to TJAG for Investigations; and Deputy Staff Judge Advocate, TRADOC. Previous assignments include Military Personnel attorney, OTJAG; Chief of Administrative Law, Army Military District of Washington; Environmental and Contracts law attorney, Fort Leavenworth, KS; Trial defense attorney, 1ID Germany and Bosnia; Trial Counsel, V Corps, Heidelberg, Germany; and legal assistance attorney, Heidelberg, Germany. She was awarded the Legion of Merit, the Bronze Star and the Meritorious Service Conduct Medal (x4).

Ms. Politowicz earned her J.D. from American University, Washington College of Law in 1994 and is admitted to practice in GA. She earned her LLM in Military Law from TJAGLCS in 2003. She is a graduate of the Command and Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, where she earned her Army strategist and instructor identifiers. She obtained a certificate in Public Sector Leadership from Cornell University in March 2020 and a certificate in Negotiation and Mediation from Harvard University in November 2021. She is a Romanian native speaker and is fluent in Spanish. She is married and has 3 children.
